Isamu Kihara (木原勇,Kihara Isamu?) is a former resident of Shioshishio and the grandfather of Tsumugu Kihara who is a fisherman. After the disaster that took place during the Ofunehiki, he accepts Chisaki Hiradaira into his household. After the timeskip, he is shown recuperating (recover from illness or exertion) in a hospital after his health deteriorated (become progressively worse).

The name Isamu means "brave/bravery, courage" (勇).
Isamu's surname Kihara means "tree, wood" (木) (ki) and "field, plain" (原) (hara).
